About NRail

The purpose of NRail is to promote N-Scale model railroading in all forms, through a variety of community activities; including exhibits, lectures, workshops, conventions, educational classes and historical displays.

Today, N-scale is the second most popular scale in the North America and the NRail Newsletter continues to be a communications channel for all N-scale modelers.

Governance

NRail is led by its President, who oversees the leadership composed of 8 other board of director members and advisors. Four officers, elected from the 9 member board, perform specific functions to keep the organization running. Board members are elected from the general membership and serve a 3 year term staggered to provide overlap and continuity. Advisors are non-voting members the leadership, who are appointed by the president and serve at the president’s pleasure. Advisors are chosen for the skills in specific areas, or the line of communications to other groups of modelers, or functions they perform for the organization. Board members and advisors meet for monthly leadership meetings to address policies, expenditures and other organization business.

History of NRAIL

In 1974, Jim FitzGerald started publishing a newsletter with the intent of establishing communications with the N-scale community about new ideas and about N-scale. That newsletter became the NTRAK Newsletter and in 1996, NTRAK became a formal organization with incorporation. In 2000, T-TRAK was introduced to the United States through the NTRAK Newsletter.   In 2021 the formal name was changed to NRail.
